Introduction
In your Miles client, content is provided in the form of courses. MILES courses are containers that allow you to define the scope of content for your target audiences. You can flexibly compose courses from modular elements called content units.
To produce your own content, you start by creating a set of content units. A content unit is ideally understood as a self-contained knowledge module. Depending on your needs, a single content unit may include additional didactic elements. The course shown in the video currently consists of seven such content units.
In addition to an optional introduction and summary, a content unit may include one or more sections. In MILES, these sections are referred to as learning phases. These learning phases contain the actual content. Additionally, content units can be assigned various exercises. Exercises are elements that require different forms of user interaction. Learners’ answers can be evaluated either automatically by the system or manually by tutors. Just like content units, exercises are created modularly.
To edit individual elements of a course, you’ll find dedicated content editors in the Library menu. These editors do not require any prior knowledge. All necessary structures and design elements are suggested automatically.
As mentioned at the beginning, the first step in developing a new course is to break down your planned content into individual content units. For each learning phase in a content unit, ready-to-use templates are available, which you can activate and fill with content as needed. Exercises are also created individually and only assigned to content units afterward. Intuitive templates are available for all exercise types.
Once finished, you can assemble and publish these elements as complete courses in MILES, making them available to your users. Both exercises and content units can be reused and exchanged as needed.
To summarize, a course in MILES consists of one or more content units, each of which can be assigned any number of exercises.
These elements can be modified at any time at all levels. Updates or additions to content become immediately available to users without any further action.
