Using MILES: Students
Opening Courses
Section titled “Opening Courses”To open a course, simply click on the desired course. The course structure will appear, helping you navigate through the course.
Each course consists of several Content Units, which are further divided into different Phases.
The number of Content Units may vary by course. The course selected here includes three Content Units, each marked with a sequential number.
Clicking on a Content Unit will display the Phases it contains.
If you click on an open Content Unit, it will close. The Phases within it will be hidden.
Where Did You Leave Off?
Section titled “Where Did You Leave Off?”If you’re working on multiple courses at the same time, it can be hard to remember where you left off in each one.
The blue highlight of the Content Unit number and the blue font of the Phase indicate where you last were.
When opening a course, you can continue right where you left off by clicking the Continue button.
Displaying Phase Content
Section titled “Displaying Phase Content”Clicking on a Phase opens it and displays its content.
The course structure also appears, allowing you to navigate to the next or another Phase with a click.
You can also open a different Content Unit and Phase anytime via the course structure.
Use this button to show or hide the course structure.
Navigating Within a Phase
Section titled “Navigating Within a Phase”Use the scroll bar to move through the content of the Phase from top to bottom.
At the end of the content, you’ll find two navigation buttons.
Click BACK to return to the previous page, or NEXT to move forward — either to the next Phase or, as in this example, to an Exercise for the current Phase.
Library
Section titled “Library”Over time, you may complete many courses. However, older courses no longer appear on your Dashboard, which only shows the most recently accessed courses.
This is where the Library comes in. It contains all the courses assigned to you. If your Library is large, you can use the search function to find and open a specific course.
Groups
Section titled “Groups”There are likely many courses not relevant to you. The Group function helps manage this.
Groups organize users and grant access to specific content. If a course is provided in a group, it’s only accessible to group members via a group invitation.
Groups can also be used to bundle and provide courses by topic.
Opening a Group
Section titled “Opening a Group”Clicking on a group displays the courses assigned to it. You can then open and work through a course as usual.
Group Invitation
Section titled “Group Invitation”To access a group’s content, you must join it. Invitations appear in the Groups section. Accept the invitation to become a member.
Chat Function
Section titled “Chat Function”Groups support collaboration and communication. A chat feature is available for this purpose.
Under MEMBERS, you can view everyone in the group.
Click the three dots to open the menu and choose Send private message. This takes you to chat mode.
Enter your message in the Message field and send it by clicking Send.
When using Send private message, only the selected recipient can read your message. Other group members cannot see it. To send a message to all group members, click Chat. Use the Message field and Send button there.
This way, all group members can follow the conversation.
Search
Section titled “Search”Searching for a Course
Section titled “Searching for a Course”Having trouble finding the right course in your Library?
Use the search function to help.
Just type a few letters of the course title into the search field. You don’t need the full title.
Searching Within Course Content
Section titled “Searching Within Course Content”You can also search for terms found within course content. Click the Magnifying Glass button to do this.
Enter the search term and press ENTER.
The result list shows where the term appears—including Content Units, Exercises, and Phases. Click to jump directly to that point.
Assessments
Section titled “Assessments”Assessments are used to evaluate your progress and performance.
If an Assessment is assigned to you, you’ll find it under Assessments and also on your Dashboard. Click to start.
Complete the tasks step by step.
Once finished, end the Assessment.
You’ll then see your Assessment results.
Use the arrow buttons to see which questions you answered correctly or incorrectly.
If you pass, you can download your personal certificate by clicking GENERATE CERTIFICATE.
Calendar
Section titled “Calendar”In this example, you’re in the group Skills. A group organizer can add events to the group calendar—like meetings or training dates.
These events appear on the group Dashboard as reminders.
Click VIEW CALENDAR or EVENTS for an overview of upcoming group events.
Click on an event to view more details.
Tutor Requests
Section titled “Tutor Requests”The Tutor Request feature allows you to get help from a tutor. If a tutor is assigned to a course, you can ask questions about content or tasks.
Each course or Content Unit is divided into text blocks. Each block has a three-dot button. Use this to initiate a Tutor Request.
After selecting a tutor, enter and send your question for that text block.
Go to Tutor Requests to view your questions. The Status column shows whether a question has been answered.
If you receive a tutor response, it will appear as a notification.
Click your question to read the tutor’s response.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”System notifications or group invitations appear under the Notifications button. The number of new notifications is shown in a small yellow circle.
Click Mark as read to remove a notification from the display.
Click SHOW ALL for an overview of all notifications.
In the example above, the second notification also includes a Mark as read button.
The third notification does not—because you haven’t yet accepted the group invitation. Once you do, that notification disappears.
Notification Settings
Section titled “Notification Settings”In the Notification Center, you can choose which notifications you want to receive and how. You can also choose whether notifications appear only within the platform or are also sent via email.
Profile
Section titled “Profile”Click your username and Profile to change personal settings.
You can change your language, email address, password, or both.
Changing the language only affects the system interface, not the course content.
If you change your email address or password, you’ll need to log in with the new credentials in the future.
