Using MILES: Tutors

A key part of the learning process is interactive exercises. Many exercise types, such as multiple-choice questions, matching tasks, or sequencing work steps, are automatically evaluated.

However, there are also exercise types like free-text and file upload tasks that must be evaluated manually. In such cases, the student uploads their answers—such as documents or screenshots—for review.

You can find submitted solutions in the respective group under the HANDINS section.

Hint

The HandIns menu shows all tasks submitted from courses or groups you are responsible for evaluating.

Click to open a HandIn.

In this example, two screenshots were uploaded. You can download, review, and then evaluate them.

If the HandIn is satisfactory, click the ACCEPT button. If not, click REJECT.

Hint

After accepting or rejecting a HandIn, confirm your decision using the SAVE button.

The Evaluation column shows whether the HandIn was accepted.

Hint

Once a HandIn is submitted, the exercise is marked on the learner’s side with a yellow question mark.

If the HandIn is accepted, the exercise is marked green and is considered successfully completed and correct in the evaluation.

You can view the learning status of group members via the EVALUATION section.

The left column displays the group’s members.

The Progress column shows how many Content Units have been completed.

The Success column shows how well the learner performed in the exercises, with correct and incorrect answers being counted.

Hint

Submitted tasks are only included in the success statistics after being accepted or rejected.

To see how much time a learner has spent going through the content, click the SHOW button next to the Success column.

The Learning Time column displays the time spent in minutes.

Important

Please note that the evaluation display is a combined summary. If a learner is participating in two courses within the group, the evaluation includes both.

If you want to make the evaluation more specific, you can use the various filter options.

In the Filter field, you can enter the course title and/or the participant’s name. You can also define a time range for the evaluation.

Based on your filter settings, the results for progress, success, and learning time will be displayed.

The organizer of a group can create appointments in the group calendar—for example, upcoming meetings or training sessions. These are visible to all group members.

Open the group and click on APPOINTMENTS to view existing entries.

To create a new appointment, click on the NEW GROUP APPOINTMENT button.

In this example, the appointment type General (1) was selected. You can choose other types—like Assessment, Tutoring, Training, or Tutor—using the arrow button.

The Attendance option (2) defines whether the event is an online or face-to-face meeting.

To make the purpose clear, enter a meaningful Title (3).

Another important detail is, of course, the Date and the Start and End Time (4).

Since this is a Teams meeting, you can enter the access Link (5) directly.

The Meeting Details field (6) is left blank.

Finally, save the appointment (7).

Once saved, the appointment will appear in the group calendar.

Hint

Note that this appointment is for members of one specific group. You can view all your appointments—including those from other groups—via the Calendar menu.
